Hace poco escuché el comentario de alguien que decía que el propósito de una mujer es “ser bonita y conseguir esposo”, y confieso que en aquel momento me molestó profundamente. Me pareció machista y ofensivo, pero no pude decir lo que pensaba porque no era una conversación en la que me encontrara involucrada. Creo que cualquiera de ustedes que lo escuchara también se molestaría y sentiría que la persona que lo está diciendo no puede estar más equivocada. Lo cual es completamente cierto.
A raíz de ese comentario, estuve pensando respecto a nuestro verdadero fin y propósito y cómo este puede hacerse realidad en el día a día. Me he preguntado: ¿cuántas de nosotras tenemos realmente claro nuestro fin?, y si es así, ¿actuamos de acuerdo o contrario a ello? Entendemos que el Dios que por su gracia nos ha salvado, nos ha hecho un llamado y ha determinado un propósito para todas aquellas que hemos puesto nuestra fe en Él. Por lo tanto, debe ser nuestro anhelo atender a dicho llamado y vivir para cumplir tal fin. Fin que está relacionado con el hecho de que estamos aquí para glorificar a Dios y disfrutar de él para siempre, que hemos sido llamados a amarlo con todo nuestro corazón, toda nuestra alma y toda nuestra mente, y a buscar todo aquello que le dé gloria y magnifique su nombre.
En teoría esto es algo que tenemos “claro” y que “sabemos”, por eso cuando nos preguntan cuál es nuestra misión, tendemos a usar respuestas relacionadas con ello. Sin embargo, el problema está en que la forma en que vivimos no refleja lo que decimos saber y tener claro. Para muchas, su forma de vivir es como si su verdadero propósito fuera ser hermosas y conseguir esposo. Por molesto que suene ese comentario, es una triste realidad dentro del pueblo cristiano. Una realidad que nunca llegaremos a admitir, y es posible que no seamos totalmente conscientes de ella.
Solo basta mirar la forma en la que una mujer invierte su tiempo, sus esfuerzos y su dinero, o las motivaciones con las que se viste, sirve en el ministerio, asiste a la iglesia o desea obtener títulos que la hagan visible, para saber que está desesperada por “atrapar” a un hombre, como si fuera una cazadora que no parará hasta conseguirlo. Como si hubiese hecho de esto la misión de su vida, y no estuviese satisfecha hasta lograrlo. Es una mujer que no vive según lo que dice creer sino según lo que realmente cree. Y lo triste es que todo esto se puede ocultar dentro de una fachada “piadosa”.
Es por ello que muchas mujeres al no tener la atención de un hombre, casarse o no sentir que se ven lo “suficientemente bonitas”, se sienten frustradas, insatisfechas y sin dirección. Esto es completamente diferente a, en ocasiones, sentir tristeza porque un anhelo normal del corazón, como lo es para muchas el matrimonio, aún no se ha cumplido. En este caso es como si hubieran fracasado en cumplir su propósito, y se sienten así porque hicieron de estas cosas la misión y fin de sus vidas. Este patrón de comportamiento es tan marcado que las personas que hacen comentarios como el que mencioné iniciando este artículo, a pesar de lo mal que pueda sonar, no están basados en la nada sino en lo que muchas veces hemos dado a entender con nuestra forma de vivir.
Ahora, el problema no está en que una mujer desee verse hermosa, es natural que lo deseemos y no está mal en primera medida. Tampoco lo está en tener el profundo deseo de casarnos y soñar con un matrimonio y una familia. Es un deseo noble y legítimo, de hecho, hace parte del diseño de Dios. El problema está cuando estas cosas se vuelven un fin en sí mismas, y no el medio por el cual podemos caminar y apuntar a un fin mucho mayor.
Debemos entender y tener la profunda convicción de que más allá de la belleza y el romance tenemos un llamado y un fin mucho más glorioso. Dios nos ha llamado para conocerlo y amarlo, para glorificarlo y disfrutar de él; y esto se puede ver de muchas formas en todo lo que hacemos en el día a día, en nuestras motivaciones y nuestra manera específica de servir y hacer lo que Dios nos ha mandado. Entender esto hace que todo lo que podamos disfrutar aquí, la forma en la que nos veamos, un noviazgo o matrimonio, una familia, un trabajo o una profesión sean una bendición. El medio por el cual glorificamos a Dios y no un fin en sí mismo. Nos guardará de hacer ídolos de estas cosas y que terminemos sirviendo a ellas.
Seamos mujeres que tenemos claro nuestro propósito de acuerdo con la palabra de Dios, y que luchamos aún con nuestros propios deseos para cumplir tal fin. No hay nada que haga más hermosa y atractiva a una mujer como el que viva para la gloria de Dios. No lo digamos solo con nuestras palabras, hagámoslo también con nuestra forma de vivir. Recuerda que son nuestras acciones las que indican lo que realmente creemos.
Si realmente vivimos para amar, disfrutar y glorificar a Dios no tendremos frustración cuando no nos sintamos lindas o no tengamos la atención de un hombre, porque entenderemos que nuestra misión y propósito no ha fracasado. Chicas, hay mucho más allá de la belleza y romance, y si has estado luchando con esto, y sientes que en ocasiones tu vida y pensamientos giran en torno a estas cosas, es necesario orar y pedir a nuestro buen Dios su ayuda, el cual nos la concederá de distintas maneras. También es bueno que, aunque sea difícil y vergonzoso, te puedas apoyar y hablar con una amiga confiable que te ayude a orar y a luchar por vivir de la forma en la que Dios nos ha creado.
